10 Tips to Speed Your Home Inspection

+ Ensure that pets won't hinder the inspection (tell your inspector about your pets)

+ Replace any burned-out light bulbs (that may suggest an electrical problem)

+ Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace weak or dead batteries

+ Clean or replace dirty HVAC air filters

+ Remove stored items, debris and wood from around foundation or crawl space entrances

+ Remove items blocking access to HVAC equipment, electric service panels, water heaters, & attic spaces

+ Unlock areas the inspector might access: attic doors, electric service panels, closets, gates, crawl spaces

+ Trim tree limbs away from the roof and trim shrubs away from the house

+ Attend to broken or missing items like: doorknobs, locks, windowpanes, screens, gutters, downspouts, and chimney caps
